Learn to play an instrument in 2021 and join the Stanmore Public School band program!
Why should your child learn an instrument?
Learning a musical instrument not only sustains and feeds the brain, but it also improves so many other cognitive and physical aspects of the human body!
Playing an instrument is great for your memory, it’s a way to meet new friends and it’s fun!
The instruments your child can play in band are:
Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone Horn, Bass Guitar, Drums and Keyboard.
Rehearsal Times
Training band: Wednesday morning 7.45am-8.45am
Senior band: Thursday morning 7.45am-8.45am
Band Fees
$15 + GST per weekly session
Private Music Lessons
Private lessons run Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm on school grounds.
- Woodwind and Brass lessons open to years 2-6 (2021)
- Guitar, Drum lesson open to years 1-6 (2021)
- Piano lessons open to Kindy-6 (2021)
Fees
$40 + GST per ½ hour (individual lesson)
$26.66 + GST per ½ hour (paired lesson)

We can organise instrument hire for you! Please visit our sister company Presto Instruments to rent your instrument.

Junior Strings
Junior Strings is offered to all beginner string players from K-4 wishing to start out on a string instrument, whether it be violin, viola, cello or double-bass. This ensemble will introduce the kids to basic ensemble skills whilst gaining instruction to beginner instrumental techniques.
Intermediate Strings
Junior Strings is offered to all intermediate level string players from 2-6 who have been playing violin, cello, viola or double-bass and demonstrate a sound knowledge of scales and an advanced development of intonation.
Students in this ensemble should be playing at approximately grade 1 AMEB standard or higher and expected to play major scales such as D, A and G.
Senior Strings
Senior Strings is offered to the most skilled players in Years 4-6 who already have a sound knowledge of violin, cello, viola or double bass. This ensemble performs at the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House each year. This is a big commitment and requires students to learn and perform their significant pieces from memory. For this ensemble, entry is by audition.
Fees
String ensembles: $15 a week
Private string and piano lessons: $44 per half hour
Invoices will be paid per semester.

Apply for a Creative Kids Voucher
The NSW Government is helping kids get creative with the new Creative Kids program.
Parents, guardians and carers can apply for a voucher with a value of up to $100 per calendar year for each student aged 4.5 to 18 years old enrolled in school.
The voucher may be used with a registered activity provider for registration, participation and tuition costs for creative arts, speech, drama, dance, digital design, coding, and music lessons and activities.
The voucher can be used at any time during the calendar year it was issued.
To use the voucher, give the details to your registered activity provider.
The program runs year-round, so kids can get creative at any time.
