Stanmore Public School Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

SASS Recognition Week

This week is SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) Recognition Week in NSW schools. SASS staff do a huge range of roles supporting quality teaching and learning, management and administration and community engagement in our public schools.

We are very fortunate to have an amazing team of office and admin staff, school learning support officers, teacher assistants and general assistants who keep our school systems running, ensure that all our students can engage in positive learning experiences, team teach in the Kitchen classroom and the Library, support students who are sick or injured, manage the buildings, grounds and site maintenance, provide the public face of our school to parents and the community – the list goes on and on.

To all our SASS staff – we salute you!

Wear It Purple Day

Next Friday, 28 August, our school will celebrate Wear It Purple Day, showing that in our school community LGBTIQ young people and families are respected, supported and can be themselves. Students are asked to wear mufti clothes, either in purple or in rainbow colours, and students who bring gold coin donations will receive a wristband.

Talking about sexual orientation and gender identity can be a sensitive topic for some families. This website has some good suggestions for talking to your child.

Until next week,

Hugh Miller
