From the Principal

Stanmore Public School Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

I would like to extend a huge Thank You to all our teaching staff for their time and effort preparing for and conducting parent-teacher interviews this week. The additional work they put in this week is much appreciated by me, and I’m sure by you too.

Thank you also to all parents who took the time to discuss your children’s learning with their teacher. Positive partnerships between home and school are proven to significantly benefit students’ learning. I know that the interviews were a long time coming this year – thank you for your patience and understanding in waiting until August to have the opportunity to speak with your child’s teacher.

Thank you to all our parents who are making an effort to stay outside the school grounds. The fewer adults we have on the school grounds, the lower the risk to our staff members and students – please avoid coming onto the school site unless it is absolutely necessary.

Happy Education Week

This week was Education Week in NSW. Usually, our school would have been celebrating with the annual Grandparents Morning Tea and Book Drive, however sadly such community events are not possible at this time.

The fact is, EVERY week is Education Week at Stanmore Public School! Our fabulous teachers and support staff and our awesome, creative, talented students are Learning Together every day, every week of every year!

The favourite part of my day is walking into classrooms across our school and seeing the amazing teaching and learning that is taking place in each and every one of them. Here is a photo album with snapshots of some of our Kindergarten and Year 1 classrooms recently. In future newsletters, we will feature photos of other year levels.

K-2 Author Talks

We are very fortunate to have one of Australia’s leading children’s authors, Deborah Abela, working in our library. Over the coming weeks, Miss Deb will give author talks for all Kindergarten, Year 1 and year 2 classes, reading her new picture book ‘Bear in Space’. If you’d like to buy a signed copy, you can order online at The Children’s Bookshop and Miss Deb will deliver the books to our school.

Thank you Miss Deb! Find out more at

Have a lovely weekend, I hope you can stay warm and dry! Take care and stay safe, and as always if your child is unwell, please keep them home from school.

Until next week,

Hugh Miller
